Atmos Energy has informed the city of plans to conduct flaring on a section of their natural gas pipeline along the west side of Hwy. 377 just north of Keller-Haslet Road beginning at approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 and Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Flaring is a standard industry practice of safely burning natural gas that must be removed from a section of pipeline so that it can be worked on. This particular section is being flared as part of Atmos’ routine maintenance schedule; contractors will be inspecting and cleaning the pipeline section with technologically advanced in-line tools once the flaring is complete.
Residents and drivers in the North Hwy. 377 area may notice a large, controlled flame as well as moderate noise for several hours during the burn.
