Keller Boards and Commissions Defined.
The City of Keller (“City”) values the input from volunteer residents serving on boards and commissions. The City may have various kinds of Boards and Commissions including but not limited to:
Advisory Boards and Commissions: These boards make recommendations to the City, but the City Council makes final decisions. Their purpose is to give advice to the City Council on areas of community interest. These committees are not governed by specific State law but are created by the City Council. Some are created by city ordinance and may be created for a certain time or for an unspecified duration. Advisory committees cannot pass ordinances; instead, their purpose is to study the concerns at hand and make recommendations.

Appointment Process: All positions on our Boards and Commissions are two-year staggered terms, therefore interviews will be conducted each year. The City Secretary will accept applications during September and/or October, and Interviews for applicants will be scheduled for late October or early November. Successful applicants will be appointed, and the administration of the Oath of Office will occur either on the 3rd Tuesday of November or the 1st Tuesday of December. Please note that due to scheduling constraints, appointments and oath administrations may occasionally be held at the next scheduled meeting of the respective board. New terms for Board and Commission members commence on December 1st of each year. It's important to remember that Board and Commission members serve at the pleasure of the City Council, and the City Council retains the right to change the appointment process at any time.
