What is "jail credit"?
The Cities of Keller, Westlake, Southlake, Colleyville, and Roanoke assign a monetary value for the time an inmate spends in jail for Class C misdemeanor tickets or warrant. A municipal judge determines jail credit as regulated by state law.
Is jail credit applied to all arrests?
No, jail credit only applies to Class C misdemeanors.
Will city employees recommend a bail bond company or an attorney?
No, but most bail bond companies and attorneys can be located in the phone book, on the internet, or by using directory assistance.
Where are impounded vehicles stored?
The City of Keller, Southlake, and Colleyville wrecker information is listed below. Inquiries concerning fees, method of payment, and directions to the storage facility should be directed to the towing company. Be prepared to provide information such as the vehicle's year, make, model, and license plate number.

When may I visit a prisoner?
Visitation generally occurs from 8pm-9pm, 7 days a week, but is subject to cancellation, without notice, by the jail staff.
- Visitation requirements are:
- Visitation is limited to 15 minutes with a maximum of 2 people allowed per visit, per inmate.
- Visitors must be appropriately dressed, be at least 18 years of age, present a valid driver's license or state issued identification card and have no outstanding arrest warrants.
- Children under the age of 17 may not visit an inmate and children must not be left unattended in the jail lobby or in a vehicle while a parent visits an inmate.
- All visitors may be searched prior to entering the visitation room. Visitors are encouraged to call (817) 743-4770 to verify approval.
What items may I bring a prisoner?
Personal items of convenience and money may not be contributed to the prisoner's property. Prisoner prescription medication will be accepted and dispensed in the prescribed manner.
May a prisoner make free phone calls?
Prisoners are allowed to place one free 2 minute telephone call after the booking process has been completed. A prisoner also has the opportunity to make collect phone calls from inside cell blocks.
How to receive a collect call from an inmate?
To receive a collect call from an inmate, please call GTL Advance Pay at 1-800-483-8314 or visit their website at www.connectnetwork.com to set up your collect call account or to learn more. This will allow the inmate to call you on your landline or cell phone from GTL phones provided within our facility.
How may I get a prisoner's property?
Prisoner property can only be released after the prisoner grants written permission authorizing the release.
- To claim prisoner property, it is necessary to:
- Complete a property release form (which the jail stall will complete upon release)
- Present a driver's license or a state issued identification card.
What does it mean when a person is "booked" into jail?
This is an administrative process documenting a prisoner's entrance into the jail. The process includes collecting information such as person's name, address, reason for the arrest (criminal charge (s)), and inventorying personal property. A photograph and fingerprints are taken as well.
What occurs during an arraignment?
An arraignment is a formal meeting between a judge and a prisoner. The judge informs the prisoner of his or her charge(s), reads the prisoner his or her rights, and advises the prisoner of the bond amount. If the prisoner qualifies, an attorney is also appointed during arraignment.
When are prisoners arraigned?
Arraignments are generally held between 8am and 230pm; but can occur at alternate times to accommodate magistrate schedules.
What is an Alias warrant?
This is a warrant where no plea has been entered. A prisoner, bail bond company, or an attorney can post a bond for this type of warrant. The bond assures that the prisoner will appear in court.
What is a Capias warrant?
This is a warrant where a plea has been entered and the prisoner did not follow through with the court agreement. The only way to resolve a Capias warrant is to pay the fine in full or be released "time served" by remaining in jail until enough jail credit has been earned.
How long will a prisoner remain in the Keller Regional Detention Facility for a Class C misdemeanor warrants issued out of another city?
The city that issued the warrant has 24 hours, once notified, to pick up a prisoner. If the issuing city fails to meet this deadline, the prisoner will be released and the warrants will be reinstated or in some circumstances an extension of time may be granted.
